Sustainability

How Belarro approaches resource use. Local production. Minimal waste. Factual impact.

Six principles guide how we operate every day.

No marketing spin. These are the facts about how we grow, how we deliver, and how we handle resources.

1

Soil-grown

We use real soil substrate, not hydroponic sponges or foam. Plants develop stronger root systems and better flavor profiles. The used soil is fully compostable and can be returned to the nutrient cycle.

2

Local production

All plants are grown in Berlin and delivered within the city. No overnight shipping. No cross-country logistics. Farm to kitchen the same day we harvest.

3

No pesticides

Controlled indoor environment means no pests. No fungicides. No herbicides. No chemical treatments. Clean growing conditions eliminate the need for intervention.

4

Minimal waste

We grow to order based on weekly commitments. No speculative production. No stock that expires unsold. Predictable rhythm means predictable quantities and virtually zero crop waste.

5

Water efficient

Indoor controlled growing uses up to 95% less water than field agriculture. Precise irrigation delivers water directly to the root zone. No runoff, no waste, no dependence on weather.

6

Energy efficient

LED grow lights consume a fraction of traditional systems. Climate control is optimized per growth stage. Vertical growing maximizes yield per square meter, reducing facility footprint.

Why soil matters

Hydroponic systems use foam or synthetic sponges that must be disposed of. Our soil-based approach uses compostable substrate made from peat-free mixtures.

After harvest, the substrate can be composted and returned to agricultural use. No waste stream. No synthetic materials entering landfills.

Local means local

Berlin-based production for Berlin-based customers. Deliveries stay within city limits. No flights. No overnight shipping. No cross-country transport.

Short distances mean fresher product for you and lower emissions for everyone. Same-day harvest and delivery would not be possible with remote farms.

Growing to order

The weekly setup model means we seed based on confirmed orders. Plants go into the ground knowing they have a destination. This eliminates the waste common in speculative agriculture.

Standard farming produces to forecast, not demand. Unsold stock becomes waste. Our model reverses this: demand triggers production.

We grow what you order. No more, no less.

Start your weekly setup and see the difference.
